Monsignor Scanlan High School Reviews

As part of the graduating Class of 2008 I must say I know I made the right decesion coming to Scanlan. As far as the claims of Scanlan being a 'jock' school, isnt so valid. There are PLENTY of clubs to join, as well as sports. In many schools though they would never admit it sports play a major role and sometimes take presidence over academics. You wont see this here at Scanlan academics always comes first then sports. There are clubs that meet everyones needs, Im involved in about 10 activities at the moment. Scanlan also offers many oppurtunities that you dont see very often for example a group of about 10 students went to West Virginia for a week during sprink break to build homes for the less fourtanate. I'd say that speaks for the EXCEPTIONAL students here at Scanlan !

I'm an alum of the high school and I must say that I'm please with my decision in attending the high school. The interaction between students and teachers is amazing. The teachers and staff really care about your well being both academically and personally. The support is tremendous and I'd recommend any student to attend the high school. You won't be sorry!

Well, I'm a past student of Msgr. Scanlan, and I have to say that most of the comments I read so far made my lift an eyebrow or two. ha ha. I happen to know first hand that the teachers are wonderful even if they are young, and that there happen to be more clubs geared to non-sports activies (such as literary magazine, drama club, campus ministry etc etc). If a person was interested, all they would have to do was look. I was in 12 clubs and organizations before I graduated, so I know a little bit about the clubs my alma matter had. I hope this review was helpful.

My daughter is doing well in this school...I also think the teachers are too young and they don't offer the sports the have listed in the brochure or online.

Ifeel that this school is one of the best school in the area. They offer plenty of after school activities, for athletes and non athletes. They have a mix of nationalities, so nobody feels left out, and different religions. My son plays on a team and the coaches really care for the teenagers as do the teachers.

My son is in his 2nd year at Scanlan and he is doing exceptionally well. There is great leadership (Principal, Deans, etc.). Scanlan provides tutoring for any child that needs it. I however, question some of the teachers, I feel some are too young to be teaching HS. This school is organized and keeps the parents well informed. My only gripe is the extracurricular activities. To my disappointment this is yet another 'jock' school. One of the reasons we chose this school was because of the various extracurricular's they claimed to offer, my son has not been able to join anything that isn't sports related. However the attention to academics is stellar...110%.
