Fordham Prep School Reviews

i love fordham. my son goes there now hes a man he turned from mike to michael. it is like no other school.except regis/xavier it is safe to say that it is the best schol in the tri-state area, although their displine is ver harsh

I'm currently going into sophomore year here and I've found that this is a really good school. In 8th grade, when I found out that going to Xavier would be an impossible commute, I didn't really like the prospect of going to Fordham at the time. But, when I finally went, I found out that it was great! The teachers are good, funny, and actually understand what they're teaching. Great School! -From a member of the Class of '11

After I got in, I was basically bound to Regis...or public school. But, then I received a scholarship to Fordham Prep. It was great, unlike Regis or the PS near me, I'd be able to swim in high school. I've loved every minute of it. Fordham's Catholic foundation is loving, not forceful. Values promoted in and outside the classrooms changed and molded me for the better. From the freshman orientation, to freshman retreat, to winning City Swimming Championships, to Latin, to Tennis, to Biology, to winning City Swimming Championships again (this time with an undefeated season), to chemistry, to Crew (rowing) States, to Global II, to the School dances, to the play productions, to the train ride home everyday, to the bodega and Rocko's Pizzaria a short walk away, to Guest speakers, Metropolitan Day, Sophomore Dream Day, and so on. My career here is not even halfway done.

I am an alumni, and I would recommend Fordham Prep to anyone who will listen. The school is great, the teachers know how to get you interested, the service is fun and wonderful for the community and you meet some friends there that you will have for life.

Dont get fooled by the great name of this school. Its average with average students and teachers.

My son has thrived at Fordham Prep. The environment, teachers, counselors are attuned to turning out young gentlemen. Community service is part of the Preps way of life. They are taught from day 1 to give back. Before sending my son to the Prep, I sought out a former student, who stated that the Prep made the transition to college seamless. He enjoyed his time there so much that he attended Fordham University a first class institution in its own right. Sports and Clubs abound from Crew to a Simpsons club. Use of the University facilities for the Varsity teams. Send your son there and you will never regret it...A Parent

Excellent education, tuition is based on your income scale, however expensive.

this school is very good academic wise and sport wise. but the disaplince is unacceptable. students have gotten kicked out for little things. such as selling dance tickets.

I would never send my son to any other school. Fordham Prep offers something for everyone. My son is at the school from 8:00am to 5:30 pm everyday. Best sense of community and camaraderie. Not to mention a great academic program that any boy coming out of there can't help but graduate a real MAN!

Fordham Prep has always been one of the best Catholic High schools in the tri-state area. If you take Regis and Xavier out of the equation, I think it would be safe to say that 'The Prep' would be the unquestionable king of Catholic schools. We have always been in the top two or three.

Excellent school one of the best in New york city. Academics are second to none as are sports.

This all boys Jesuit high school has a fairly rigorous academic program. All students take Latin or Greek freshman year as well as Religion courses annually in addition to science, math, english, global history. Strict dress code. College prep could be more well rounded - they tend to steer you only towards Catholic colleges though they do have many college admissions people visit the school. Top notch library. Athletes get to waive gym requirement. Don't think they get to use much of the Fordham Univ. athletic fields. Discipline, counseling and academics could be more integrated.

The Prep is an amazing school. It is easily in the top three.(Up there with Regis and Xavier.)I was well prepared for college and life.

I love this school, I am currently a sophomore, I recommend in to any child who wants a good education and learning environment.

When I was not accepted to Xavier, I thought I would never be happy at 'The Prep.' Boy was I wrong! It may have turned out to be one of my greatest academic experiences. It is easily one of the top three Jesuit high schools in the tri-state area. I consider myself a very privileged and proud graduate.

I am an alumni and owe a great deal of my professionl success to the education I received at the Prep. I went to a 'little Ivy' in Massachussetts and was light years ahead of my classmates in all subject areas and as a human being because of my education and experience at Fordham Prep.

Amazing school. One of the best High Schools in the state and in the Country. The Prep allows the students to succeed academically and in extra curricular activities, all with people to help you along the way. You are given many freedoms, but there are always people to help you along the way if you need it.

This school provides young men with the opportunity not only to grow academically but to gain a great insight into their moral and spiritual values regardless of their religious background. Fordham Prep, is one of the best Jesuits High School in New York City.

Fordham is all about academic rigor and service. The Jeusit philosophy doesn't just want to know the answer to a question: It asks the student to give the logic and reason for his answer. No lazy thinkers allowed! That academic rigor, as well as one of Fordham's mottos as a school that seeks to instill the sense of a meaningful life of service (..A man to serve others...') compells each student to learn in conjunction with an obligation to his role in the life of his fellow man.

I am an Alumni. I love my Alma Mater. There were more than a handful of extracurriculars the teachers were brilliant and awesome. The School boasts instruction from the famous Rev. William O'Malley, cast member in The Exorsist; he has also published over 20 books, and over 200 articles. Jesuit education is far more than schooling, it goes beyond book studies to educate, the mind, body, soul and spirit.
