My children have been struggling for years. Through frustration and anguish we have tried several schools that didn't work out until we finally came to Holy Name School. The principle and staff welcomed us with enthusiasm and kindness. Without long meetings and lectures the faculty were able to recognize the children's problems and began immediately working with them. The result was nothing short of a miracle for me. My children responded well and their grade point averages increased! It is a very good school with staff that is experienced and willing to listen to your concerns. The Principal is very professional and sympathetic as well. Too much responsibility is left to the child so that if help is needed, teachers won't intervene unless help is requested by child. In times of disagreement, there is no one to go to to help solve problems. The students receive quality education by dedicated and devoted teachers and staff. Each class receives instruction in all regular classroom subjects, plus library, art, music, gym, Spanish, and technology. Holy Name offers extracurricular activities in the arts (drama and choir)and in athletics too. The parents are really involved in the school as well. Clearly they are afraid of losing money from the tuition that they receive from the tuition. Not any activities for the students, their lucky if they get gym but it's not real, art is coloring, as for computers, great lab set up, but they're taught nothing, the room just looks impressive. The attention to detail and emphasis on Catholic values attracted me and my family to the school in the first place. The school is known as the 'little school with a big heart.' With small class sizes and a faculty and administration that really care about each student, the school lives up to its motto without question. I highly recommend this school to anyone. Sister Rose has been there for years she is the greatest teacher ever. she has the first graders reading in no time. she is from the old school and believes in discipline and learning and creating character in a child. the only fall back with the school, is it lacks an art program, music and gym is maybe twice a month. However, the lack of firm authority holds it back. Discipline is almost non existent from the administration. Individual teachers must provide authority and if they do not the children are allowed to do whatever they please. A child can receive a basic education although that is it. There are very few special classes (i.e., Gym 2X a month). Although with the tuition rate increases, you would think services would be added and not cut like they have over the years.”
