I am however extremely dissapointed in regard to the lack of extra curricular activity, more specifically, physical activity. I loved that school and now i am in the 7th grade. i graduated 2007 as the salutatory (person under the valedictorian) and am so proud. at this school you get acknowledged as a person and you get fair treatment. the teachers are your friends and when i go back to say hi they are all so happy to see us and have glitters in their eyes. the school has been there from 1942 (i think) and the current principal is so nice. his name is Mr. Sterling; very young man. he can be strict but he knows what is best. for now i can say those were my BEST years!!!!!!!!!!!!” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 5 2007-05-15 “regent is a wonderul school my daughter went there from kindergarden she graduated from there and now she is in high school she still go back to do community service there and still go to look for the teachers.” Posted By: parent Quality Score: 5 2006-10-05 “The Regent School is one of only a few jems left in the urban educational system. The students really learn to master the most important basic skills which secure the ability to succeed in higher grades. The teacher are patient, encouraging yet they keep the children focused. Most important for me is that all of the students do well on the weekly spelling test -- a strong vocabulary makes all the difference. They may not have a gym but they take the children to the park regularly. As for a foreign language and music those can be taught by your local YMCA or community center. The classes are small and intimate and not only do the teachers know the students and parents by name, the entire administration does as well. The children are taken on many cultural as well as fun trips during the course of the year and they have several shows/presentations.
